Paul and his cat, Nesmith, are anxious to move in. During the day Nesmith spends most of her time sleeping, or so she says, while Paul works at HP as an electrical engineer turned software geek in order to bring home the cat food. For fun he has too many hobbies to be good at any of them. Lately these include Lindy Hop dance lessons and trying to help build community as a board member of Public Radio for the Front Range. Paul has recently become re-addicted to endorphins through running (well, jogging) and may try the Pikes Peak half marathon this summer.
Linda has been interested in planned communities for many years. She unexpectedly happened upon Greyrock Commons and became interested in CoHousing. Linda has two daughters, ages 17 & 7, and they share their home and lives with Alan. Linda and Alan are engaged to be married. The family also includes Zellie the dog and Dory the cat. Linda works providing phone support for software questions. She looks forward with great excitement to being a part of the Martinez Park adventure.
Alan grew up in Atascadero, California, and returns every summer to gather blackberries at the creek. Alan has lived in Colorado since 1974 and is a graduate of the Boulder School of Massage Therapy. He enjoys piano playing, kids and words. Alan uses a bicycle instead of a car. His daughter is in college in California and his son will soon return from a year in Spain as a high school exchange student. Alan and Linda met at work, where they both do software support.
Sheri and Rich moved to Ft. Collins in September 1996, when Rich's research project was transferred from the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA, to Colorado State University. Sheri is a physical therapist who works part-time in a local private practice. Their son will be two in August. They enjoy the outdoors (skiing, camping, cycling), good food, good friends, and the wonderful parks and organized sports in Fort Collins.
DonB was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming, and has traveled the U.S. from coast to coast including Alaska, living in San Diego, Phoenix, and Encampment, WY (population 500). Don has a childhood dream of sailing around the world. His family shares ownership in a 32' sailboat, and if Don has his way it will eventually take him for the voyage of a lifetime. Until then, soccer, backpacking, skiing, bicycling, music, dancing and other sports take up his free time. Don is committed to doing something good for society, which fuels his desire to be a CoHousing developer. Having been involved in numerous businesses and jobs, Don is truly a jack of many trades and master of none. Don loves his family, children, animals, sports, the majority of humanity and, most important of all, life.
Stephanie has been in Fort Collins since October 1995, having moved here from Louisiana where she did graduate work in Geography. She misses the humidity and festivals -- but not the pollution -- and enjoys the sunshine, wind, and even the snow in Colorado. Stephanie works at CSU in the Department of Environmental Health doing research applied to ecological and environmental health issues. She has been learning mandolin for several years and likes playing with other musicians, especially the patient types who know songs with C, D and G chords. She has a cat, Lepton, and a dog, Humbolt. Stephanie enjoys hiking, sewing, reading, gardening and trying to make things she needs with things she already has.
DonF moved here in August 1996 to be farther from Chicago and closer to the mountains. CoHousing is a pleasant surprise that he did not know was awaiting him here. He's been busy making new friends and enjoying the outdoor activities that make Colorado famous. Previous work has included a health food store, consulting, a telephone answering service, and teaching. Teaching is the most likely occupation for Don to pursue here. He has a son about to enter graduate school at the University of Washington in Seattle. His main hobby is woodworking, along with other tinkering. Bicycling is one of his favorite forms of recreation and about his only form of transportation.
AndreaH and Stew hail from opposite coasts, Andrea from California and Stew from New York. Married since 1985, they traveled extensively before their daughter was born in 1993, and are still trying to explore the world as often as possible, now aided with a child's eyes. They like walks on the beach, biking, fresh coffee, gamelan music, traveling, planning travel, thinking about traveling, photography, sunsets, playgrounds, hiking, camping and seakayaking. Currently Stew is chasing a Ph.D. and Andrea spends her time chasing their daughter. They are very excited about CoHousing and look forward to their new neighborhood.
Mark was born in Nebraska, grew up in Indiana and has lived in New York and Mexico City. Mark studied Computer and Electrical Engineering at Purdue University and works for a software firm in Fort Collins. He has lived in Fort Collins since August 1995. Mark has toured 5000 miles by bicycle through Atlantic Canada, New England and from Florida to Indiana. He adores children and is addicted to public radio. He speaks Spanish fluently, French rustily, and enough German to ask questions he doesn't understand the answers to. Mark likes language, software, aikido, biking, reading and travel. He talks too much most of the time but is a good listener when his mouth is closed.
Mary grew up in Longmont and went to college in Minnesota where she earned a degree in Philosophy (with a Music minor). Then, she became a band instrument repair technician. Now she works as the sole Paralegal in a law office a 10-minute walk from her home. She moved to Fort Collins in 1994. Mary enjoys cross-stitching, reading, eating, biking and music. She sings in the Rainbow Chorus. She and her partner Dan hope to have a dog and maybe a child or two in their new home and look forward to building a sense of community with a diverse group of people through CoHousing.
Janet is a Californian, filtered through Texas and Arizona and 16 years in Fort Collins. Her household includes a small, shy dog; two large cats; and two college kids--whenever the dorms close. Her kids are very pleased with CoHousing, as now the pressure is off to produce grandchildren and to try out her new recipes. Janet has lived cooperatively before and looks forward to once again being in a place where she can borrow or share a can of tuna when needed.
Jan and Kelly met in Madison, Wisconsin in 1989, where Jan was working on her masters degree in water resources management and agronomy, and Kelly was starting his carpentry business. They moved in together after their second date and since have gotten married and had two kids, ages 4 & 2. After restoring an old house, they moved to Fort Collins. When not working on remodeling projects, Kelly is frequently seen roller blading down the Poudre River Trail, pushing the jogger stroller at alarming speeds. Jan started her own business in erosion and stormwater management this year and spends her imaginary free time gardening, knitting, weaving, and playing tennis. Moving to Martinez Park CoHousing to raise their kids seems like the best idea they've had since moving to sunny, warm Colorado.
Will grew up mainly all over Oklahoma, with periods in a tiny Kansas town, a Choctaw Reservation in Mississippi, and Miami, Florida. He makes a living doing freelance consulting, programming and systems analysis for Wyoming's Department of Family Services, telecommuting most days and driving his electric Rabbit to Cheyenne the rest. He enjoys being a daddy and hubby, living sustainably, volunteering for Sierra Club, listening to good music, reading, hiking, writing, camping, playing volleyball and softball, rafting, traveling, playing congas and assorted percussion instruments, eating good food, drinking margaritas, and partying with good friends. He's excited about being part of a sustainable community.

She likes organic gardening, baking homemade bread, cooking, reading, hiking and practicing peace. Taking care of her 4-year-old daughter, keeps her pretty busy these days, and she is preparing for child #2, due Christmas Eve. She is looking forward to living in co-housing.
